Therapy is not to ‚talk about‘ things, but to change the person’s life, and to relieve suffering, such as depression, anxiety, or relationship problems. The purpose of psychotherapy is to set people free.
Yesterday afternoon I traveled to Offenbach in the baking heat for the quarterly appointment with my therapist.
We have been reducing these appointments to once every three months in November last year, when it became clear I would need his counsel only as a safety net still, but had done the major work towards sanity.
The panic attacks are long gone and I am awfully glad for that. I was able to reduce the anxiety to only some moments in challenging situations and after our trip into the far out regions I am sure, anxiety won’t be a major issue any longer.
Hence I only had a brief talk with my therapist until he said: „So you don’t need me any more.“ and I agreed. Carefully checking whether I might need the safety net still I discovered only happiness and relief, where once there was insecurity and fear.
So we put it all to rest.
I am happy. I love and feel loved and there are wonderful people, who will care for me (and I for them).
Special thanks to Jenny, Kai and tomate for all the support and love. And especially to Kim for not giving up on me, when there had been more than ample reason to do so. <3
